Vimla Patel

Vimla Patel is the Chairperson of the Editorial Committee.

Vimla L. Patel is a Professor of Medicine and Psychology, and the Director of the Centre for Medical Education at McGill University in Montreal. She received her B.Sc. from New Zealand, and her MA and Ph.D. from McGill University. Performing research at the interface between Cognitive Science and Medical Education, she has been naturally drawn to the field of medical informatics since her interests logically overlap with work on medical decision support, computer-assisted education, and the psychology of human-computer interaction. Dr. Patel was elected to the Royal Society of Canada in 1996, received an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Victoria in 1998, and was elected a fellow of the ACMI in 1996. She is an Assistant Editor for "AI in Medicine", and serves on the editorial boards of the "International Journal of Medical Informatics", "Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine", and "Methods of Information in Medicine."
