Beatriz de Faria Leao

Beatriz is Medical Doctor by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Brazil, 1977. Doctoral degree with thesis on Knowledge Engineering at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), 1986. Post-Doctoral fellow at the Medical Informatics Department, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands, 1989-90. Associate Professor Medical Informatics, Graduate Programme in Medicine, Institute of Cardiology, Porto Alegre. Associate Professor Computer Science at Federal University Rio Grande do Sul, 1994-1995 and associate Professor Medical Informatics, 1996-1999. Presently: CIO at Hospital Moinhos de Vento, Porto Alegre, RS. Consultant in Health Informatics. Member of National Committee on Standards for Electronic Patient Record. Research interests: electronic patient record, standards, knowledge representation, distributed systems.
